‘It is a big hit,’ Emotorad Co-Founder Kunal Gupta raises concerns over US Tariff impact

Pune (Maharashtra), August 12, 2025 (ANI): Kunal Gupta, Co-Founder of electric cycle manufacturer Emotorad, has voiced serious concerns over the recent spike in US trade tariffs, calling it a “larger hit” for companies like his. He said, “It's a larger hit for sure. Prior to the 1st of April, we were sitting at a negligible zero duty structure as compared to what tariffs have done today. It has reached to a 50% price point, which will impact the consumers of the USA and the sales. It is a big hit for companies like us. I hope we get a new resolution soon, or some changes in a particular domain... The amount of exports we were supposed to do to our clients sitting in the US... now they have to buy it at almost 1.5 times the cost... The product is becoming expensive for the consumer... which will lower down the consumption, impact the whole chain and the supply chain... There are so many bigger markets in the world where electric bikes are also consumed... We used to focus on the US as a market... Now, we'll have to diverge from the US and look at different other markets which include Europe, Australia, Japan and other economies..."
