Uttarkashi tunnel collapse: “Hope we will rescue the workers soon…” DG NDRF Atul Karwal

Uttarkashi (Uttarakhand), Nov 23(ANI): On the rescue mission being underway at Uttarkashi tunnel collapse site, DG NDRF, Atul Karwal on November 23 said that the team of NDRF is ready to face all the consequences and hopes that workers will be rescued soon. Atul Karwal said, “NDRF is ready for all the consequences that we may have to face. Special equipment is also ready so that we can take the trapped workers out as early as possible. Our teams are ready, as I hope we will be able to rescue the workers soon.” The collapse occurred on November 12 during the construction of a tunnel from Silkyara to Barkot. It trapped 41 labourers due to a muck fall in a 60-metre stretch on the Silkyara side of the tunnel. The operation to rescue 41 workers trapped inside a Uttarakhand tunnel for the past 12 days is in its critical phase. Machine and technical experts are also at the site to help in the process.
