Active COVID cases dip below 7 lakh, recoveries nearing 70-lakh mark

New Delhi, Oct 23 (ANI): The COVID-19 has now affected 77,61,312 people in the country. India recorded 54,366 new COVID-19 cases on October 22. As many as 690 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the toll to 1,17,306. Total active cases stand at 6,95,509 after a decrease of 20,303 in last 24 hours. Total cured cases are 69,48,497 with 73,979 new discharges in last 24 hours. According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), total 10,01,13,085 samples tested for COVID19 up to October 22. Of these, 14,42,722 samples were tested yesterday (October 22). Meanwhile, Ministry of Health stated that, India's cumulative Positivity Rate is 7.81% and the daily figure is 3.8%. Several states/UTs are exhibiting Positivity Rate higher than the national average indicating a need for aggressive and widespread testing.
