Tropical Storm Simone forms off Mexico, threatens severe flooding

Mexico City [Mexico], October 8: Tropical Storm Simone formed on Wednesday in the Pacific Ocean off Mexico's south-western coast, the National Hurricane Centre said.
The storm's centre was about 175 miles (285 kilometres) south-east of Lazaro Cardenas, Mexico.
The storm is expected to bring heavy rainfall that could cause life-threatening flooding in parts of south-western Mexico.
