Thailand prepares for border conflict scenario

Bangkok [Thailand], June 29: The Bangkok Post newspaper yesterday (June 28) quoted Commander Phanpakdee Phatthanakun of the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) declaring that the force's fighter jets are ready to take off within 5 minutes if a conflict breaks out.

As tensions continue between Cambodia and Thailand over the border, a group of 143 Thai scholars have submitted a petition calling on King Maha Vajiralongkorn to replace Prime Minister
Paetongtarn Shinawatra, according to The Nation . One of the reasons the scholars presented was a recording of a private conversation between Hun Sen and Paetongtarn that was made public by Cambodia on June 18. A wave of protests also took place in Bangkok yesterday, with thousands of people demanding that Paetongtarn resign, partly because of the recording.
