Geneva [Switzerland], August 27: Around 200 people protested violently for the second night in the Swiss city of Lausanne after a youth died in a moped accident while fleeing police, authorities said on Tuesday.
According to police, the mainly young protesters threw stones, petrol bombs and fireworks, as well as setting light to containers and rubbish bins. The emergency services used water cannons and tear gas to control the crowd.
No injuries were reported, but seven people were arrested in the city, which is located on Lake Geneva. The protests were triggered by the death of a 17-year-old who tried to escape from police on a stolen moped on Sunday.
