Putin urges ceasefire in calls with Middle Eastern leaders

Moscow [Russia], October 17: Russian President Vladimir putin called for an immediate ceasefire and the interests of the Palestinians to be taken into account in the current Middle East crisis, in phone calls on Monday with regional leaders.
The Russian leader spoke first to Iranian President EbrahimRaisi, and also to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, his foreign policy advisor Yuri Ushakov said, according to the Interfax news agency.
Putin called for an end to the use of violence against civilians.
"The Russian side reaffirmed its willingness to coordinate efforts with all the constructive partners to halt the hostilities and stabilize the situation as soon as possible," the Kremlin's press office said.
In a subsequent conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Putin informed him of his previous telephone calls. At the same time, he offered Netanyahu Russia's support to end the current conflict, according to the Kremlin.
