Mr. Trump said he would respect the results of the US midterm elections if they were conducted honestly

[US], October 28: US President Donald Trump answered a question about respecting the results of the midterm elections, amid polls suggesting the Republican Party could face an unfavorable outcome.
US President Donald Trump said on October 27 that he would respect the results of the US midterm elections if they were conducted fairly.
"I would respect it if the results were honest," AFP quoted him as saying on his way to Texas for a campaign rally, when asked about the issue.
Trump has intensified his allegations of large-scale election fraud, but has offered no evidence, amid polls suggesting Republicans are likely to lose control of Congress in the upcoming election.
The 80-year-old president also made a cautious commitment to cooperating with the Democrats if the Republicans lose control of both houses of Congress.
"We'll find a way. Look, I have strong veto power. I hope it doesn't happen, but if it does, it's happened to many presidents before," Trump said at Andrews Air Force Base near Washington, D.C.
"The president has strong veto power, and ultimately the two sides can still reach agreements," he added.
Republicans are concerned about a "blue wave" of Democrats in the midterm elections, as voters are frustrated by inflation, which has been fueled by soaring oil prices since Trump launched his war against Iran.
Over the past month, Trump has held nearly daily Republican rallies across the country in an effort to boost voter turnout. He asserts that he is the only one who can prevent defeat.
In a related development, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio made a rare appearance alongside President Trump during the midterm election campaign, when they both visited a crude oil tanker from Venezuela.
In Texas, Trump invited Rubio onto the stage and said that "he's very popular."
A U.S. State Department official said Rubio is accompanying President Trump as National Security Advisor. Rubio is the first person to hold both key foreign policy positions since Henry Kissinger.
