Moldova got a new, pro-Western government

Chișinău [Maldova], February 17: Moldova's new government, headed by pro-Western economist DorinRecean, was sworn in today after receiving the support of a majority of parliament members.
62 deputies of the ruling Party of Action and Solidarity, which has an absolute majority in the parliament with 101 seats, voted for the election of the new government.
Pro-Moscow parties, communists and socialists, which together have 31 deputies, abstained from voting.
Recean, a 48-year-old economist who served as defense and security adviser to Moldovan President Maja Sandu for a year, was appointed as the prime minister last week after Prime Minister NatalijaGavrilica suddenly resigned.
After the members of the government were sworn in before President Sandu, she told them that they had to lead Moldova through "a very difficult period, marked by multiple crises", and highlighted membership in the European Union as the only way for the country to "preserve and strengthen" the democratic order.
Prime Minister Recean stated that strengthening Moldova's security sector is one of the priorities, along with European integration, stating that it is necessary to "drastically oppose the activities of those who want to bring war to the country".
On Monday, Sandu said that Moscow is planning a coup in Moldova with the help of saboteurs from Russia, Belarus, Serbia and Montenegro, in order to divert the country from the European path.
