Recently, the actor attracted attention for his role as a father suffering from amnesia in the short film "Come Home, Dad" from the Weekend Short Film series . According to Meritorious Artist Cong Ninh, this character has an unfortunate fate, falling into a state of semi-consciousness. When interacting with his own daughter, there are moments when he feels a close connection but doesn't know if she is truly his child. "I think the psychological depth of the father and son characters in the film creates a very strong impact on the viewers. Even when we were on set, I and the crew were moved to tears," he shared.
According to the actor, in essence, the acting style and character psychology in short films are no different. The only difference is that the time a character lives in the story is shorter because short films are highly concise, with conflicts presented and resolved very quickly rather than being drawn out. "This helps the audience to understand and feel the character more concisely and quickly," he said.
The process of embodying the role also reminded Meritorious Artist Cong Ninh of the turning point of becoming a father in real life. According to him, it was a strange and indescribable feeling. The male artist shared: "At that time, I was filming a movie when I received a phone call from the press informing me that my wife had given birth at the hospital. Because of the filming schedule, I couldn't leave immediately and had to wait until late at night to rush back. When I arrived, the hospital wouldn't let me visit because my wife had a C-section, and I had to wait two days before I could see her. At that time, I stood outside, feeling both anxious and worried about my child. The feeling of becoming a father for the first time was both overwhelmingly happy and full of anxieties."
Meritorious Artist Cong Ninh said that his wife is currently teaching at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Film. Because they work at the same university, they support each other in both work and family life.
According to the actor, as parents, everyone hopes for a harmonious and happy family life and a peaceful childhood for their children. Therefore, he and his wife continue to closely monitor and care for their daughter. "My daughter is 13 years old this year. She doesn't want to be an actress but is very passionate about music, and my wife and I fully support her," the artist said.
