Iran says enhancing regional cooperation 2nd step in boosting ties with neighbours

Tehran [Iran], August 29: A senior Iranian diplomat said that enhancing multilateral and regional cooperation is the country's second step in implementing its policy of expanding relations with neighbors, the Foreign Ministry's website reported on Sunday.
Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali BagheriKani made the remarks in a meeting here with visiting Qatar's Assistant Foreign Minister for Regional Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulaziz al-Khulaifi on Saturday night, during which the two sides discussed bilateral ties as well as regional and international developments.
With regard to the increasing development of bilateral relations, particularly during the past 12 months, BagheriKani said that Tehran welcomes Doha's effective role in its efforts to expand multilateral regional cooperation.
He added the United States and Israel are making bids to wipe Palestine off regional and world political landscapes, stressing that any initiative failing to take the Palestinian nation's rights into consideration will compromise regional stability and security.
Since taking office in August 2021, Iranian President EbrahimRaisi has constantly stressed that improving relations with neighbors and Asian states is his administration's top foreign policy priority.
Within the framework of the same policy, Iran has significantly increased political and economic exchanges with regional states over the past year.
