Iran rejects US proposal

Tehran [Iran], June 10: Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said on June 9 that the country will soon present a counter-proposal in indirect nuclear talks with the United States.
"The US proposal is not acceptable to us. It is not the result of previous rounds of negotiations," Reuters quoted Mr. Baghaei as saying. However, there is still no detailed information about the date of the 6th round of nuclear negotiations between the two sides.
The statement came after Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said on June 8 that the latest US proposal for a nuclear deal did not include lifting sanctions on Tehran. Speaking on Iran's state-run IRIB television, Ghalibaf called it a sign of dishonesty and accused Washington of trying to impose the deal "unilaterally." The Iranian official also called on US President Donald Trump to "understand better and change his approach" if he "really wants a deal."
In addition, Iranian officials on June 8 warned of reducing the scale of cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) if a resolution against Tehran is passed at the organization's upcoming meeting. The draft resolution on Iran's nuclear program is expected to be submitted by the US and three European countries (France, Germany and the UK) to the IAEA Board of Governors meeting, which will take place from June 9 to 13.
In another development, Iranian Security and Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib announced that Tehran had seized a "treasure trove of important information" related to Israel 's nuclear program .
