Croatia's daily COVID-19 cases hit new record

Zagreb (Croatia), January 7: Croatia on Thursday logged a record number of 9,058 new COVID-19 cases, the country's national COVID-19 crisis management team said in a statement.The previous daily record was registered on Wednesday, with 8,587 new cases.Croatia also reported 33 COVID-19 related deaths on Thursday, taking the national death toll to 12,764.To date, the country of some 4 million people has recorded a total of 745,544 cases since the start of the pandemic in early 2020, the statement said.Low vaccination rate has been blamed for the main cause of high infection rate in Croatia. Only 55.82 percent of the population have been vaccinated so far, much lower than in other European countries.Source: Xinhua
