Beijing [China], January 9: Officials at the recent Digital China Summit detailed commitments to advancing networks through proliferating 5G use cases plus 6G research. China hosts the world's largest 5G infrastructure spanning all key sectors, according to China Daily.
"We will promote orderly and high-quality 5G construction, application and next-generation RD," said Ministry of Industry and Information Technology official Zhao Ce. Efforts back technology exchange and early 6G innovation.
Catalyzing digitalisation, 5G empowers strategic emerging industries from mining to logistics by enabling real-time data flows. Meanwhile, frontier research institutes recently formed a 6G consortium targeting breakthroughs.
Cyberspace Administration deputy head Zhang Wang stressed elevating traditional manufacturing, medical care and more through 5G cloud platforms as Beijing eyes significant digital transformation by 2025.
Cao Ming, president of the wireless product line at Huawei Technologies, said China is taking the lead in 5G development across the globe, and 5G is expected to play a bigger role in bolstering digitalisation in a wide range of sectors covering intelligent connected vehicles and intelligent transportation.
Noting new cybersecurity challenges have popped up with the rapid development and application of 5G technology, Qi Xiangdong, chairman of Chinese cybersecurity company Qi-Anxin Technology Group, said the company will strengthen cooperation with the country's major telecom carriers to help them deal with growing cybersecurity risks.
Qi said China's cybersecurity industry has maintained annual growth rate of 15 to 20 percent, while calling for efforts to increase investment in talent training and enhancing security awareness among netizens.
