An attack leaves more than 30 people dead in Myanmar

Naypyidaw [Myanmar], December 14: The airstrike reportedly killed more than 30 people at a hospital in the town of Mrauk-U in Rakhine State, western Myanmar , near the Bangladesh border.
Two aid workers allege that a Myanmar military aircraft bombed a general hospital in the town of Mrauk-U in Rakhine State, western Myanmar , near the Bangladesh border, on the evening of December 10, according to AFP.
Rakhine State was almost entirely under the control of the Arakan Army (AA), an active opposition armed force long before the February 1, 2021 coup. The People's Defense Forces (PDF) also rose up against the army after that coup.
AA said that 33 people were killed and 76 injured in an airstrike by the Myanmar military on December 10.
Meanwhile, an article in the Global New Light of Myanmar (GNLM), a newspaper controlled by Myanmar's military government, wrote: "Those killed or injured are not civilians, but terrorists and their supporters."
According to GNLM , the Myanmar military government "has taken necessary security measures and launched an anti-terrorism operation on December 10 targeting buildings used as bases by the AA and PDF."
The United Nations on December 11 called for an investigation, saying the attack could constitute a war crime . World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on December 9 that medical staff and patients had been killed, and "hospital infrastructure was severely damaged, with operating rooms and main inpatient treatment areas completely destroyed," according to AFP.
