Bern [Switzerland], May 26: Police have discovered the bodies of five people on the Rimpfischhorn mountain, near the Swiss ski resort of Zermatt.

Helicopters were dispatched to survey the mountain and discovered the bodies of five people on the afternoon of May 24 local time.
Swiss airline Air Zermatt said rescuers found three bodies in an avalanche and two more victims 200 meters away. Authorities have not yet announced the cause of death.
According to Air Zermatt, a group of climbers discovered the abandoned skis at an altitude of 4,000 meters on the Rimpfischhorn mountain. The mountain is about 4,200 meters high, located east of the famous ski resort of Zermatt .
Valais state police said the victims were found on the Adler glacier. Authorities are now investigating the details of the incident.

According to the Swiss- based Snow and Avalanche Research Institute , from October 2024 to May 17, the winter season in Switzerland, at least 15 people have died due to avalanches.
