Trade union protest in Cannes near the venue of the Film Festival

Cannes [France], May 22: Several hundred opponents of the French law on the reform of the pension system protested today in Cannes near the palace where the 76th International Film Festival is underway, France bleu radio reported on its website.
Demonstrators gathered at the invitation of the union, and respected the distance over which gatherings during the festival were prohibited.
Around noon, the gathered started a protest walk through the streets where the ban on gatherings does not apply, until they reached the railway station in Cannes, where they were stopped by the police.
According to the police, there were about 300 people at the rally, while the trade unions put the number at 500.
The next protest rally in Cannes is scheduled for Tuesday.
The French union CGT, one of the organizers of the protest against the pension reform, recently promised actions during the Cannes Film Festival.
The police prefecture of Cannes imposed a ban on protests from May 16 to 28, during the festival.
The union announced that it will carry out its actions under the slogan "The CGT is also shooting its film in Cannes".
These are protests due to the passing of the law on pension reform, as well as the insurance conditions for the unemployed and the insurance conditions for seasonal workers and employees who work occasionally.
