Senior IS leader captured in Libya: PM

Tripoli (Libya), September 8: Libyan Prime Minister Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah on Tuesday announced that the Libyan security has captured a senior leader of the militant group Islamic State (IS).
"The Joint Operations Force has captured the IS leader Embarak al-Kharmi," Dbeibah tweeted.
"The continued success of this work will lead to vital intelligence information about IS and achieving justice against a dangerous terrorist," he said.
The Libyan Attorney General's office said that al-Kharmi was captured in the town of Bani Walid, some 180 km southeast of the capital Tripoli.
Al-Kharmi is responsible for a number of bombings targetting security and military checkpoints near Bani Walid, the office said in a statement.
He was also involved in the suicide bombing of a military training camp in 2016 in the city of Zliten in western Libya, which killed at least 67 people, the statement added.
