Libya's new government holds first meeting on anti-COVID fight, electricity supply

Tripoli (Libya), March 25: Libya's new Government of National Unity on Wednesday held its first meeting to discuss its domestic fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and electricity supply.
"The most serious challenges of this stage are the Coronavirus and providing services, mainly electricity," said a statement issued by the information office of the government.
Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah also urged the government ministers to communicate with the people and personally oversee the process of solving all problems, according to the statement.
Libya had been politically divided between eastern and western governments for years, before the Government of National Unity was approved recently by the House of Representatives.
The new government's main task is to prepare for the upcoming general elections in Libya on Dec. 24, as agreed by the United Nations-sponsored Libyan Political Dialogue Forum.
