Ex-Japan PM Mori meets Taiwan President Tsai

Tokyo (Japan), September 19: Former Japanese Prime Minister Mori Yoshiro has told Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen that new Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide hopes to talk with her by telephone. Mori is visiting Taiwan to attend a memorial service for the former Taiwanese President Lee Teng-hui scheduled for Saturday.
Mori delivered Suga's message to Tsai in a meeting in Taiwan on Friday.
Mori said Prime Minister Suga gave him a phone call on Thursday and asked him to convey good wishes to President Tsai and the people of Taiwan.
Tsai expressed her gratitude to Mori for visiting Taiwan and extended her best wishes to Suga and his Cabinet.
Tsai said she believes that through joint efforts, "Taiwan and Japan will continue to enhance cooperation in all areas and further strengthen bilateral relations."
Taiwan's first democratically elected president, Lee died in July.
Mori also visited Taiwan last month to offer his condolences to Lee's family members.
